June 29th, 2025 - Maintenance Check
Well it’s crazy to think about it, but the next time you receive one of these newsletter updates I will be married. And with that being said there’s been a whole lot of things going as I prepare for that transition! (Be it things about myself, wedding logistics, vocational concerns, etc.). In this ministry update I’m getting real, I’m being vulnerable, and I’m inviting you into my life this last month.
June 11th, 2025 - Challenges
All the way back in March, I thought my summer would look like this: finish wedding logistics, travel with Impact to Ghana, return to America, get married to the love of my life, go on a honeymoon, move into an apartment, jump into the semester, and enjoy the new chapter as a married man. However, as I’m currently writing this newsletter 1) Imani and I are still finalizing wedding logistics, 2) we’re still trying to pin down our housing for the fall, 3) we both are in a season of fundraising this summer, and 4) this current fundraising cycle has been incredibly challenging for me.
Therefore, with all that being said, June more or less has been giving me some logistical headaches; and in many ways it has been guiding me to some pretty hard decisions…
Future of Ministry
As many of you probably know, as a campus coach minister I get paid through the generosity and charitable giving of people and readers like you (Click Here to Learn More!); And due to unexpected events and other circumstances within my peoples’ lives, the amount of funding I receive can vary at times.
Thus, as you might imagine, since my ministry team only started a year ago, my funding amount is not as established as it should be yet. Thus, with that being said, I currently am in need of raising another $1000 in monthly support, (and because I’m getting married I also need to do this alongside wedding planning.) :/
So yeah… these last couple of weeks has not been easy on your boy; And I would greatly appreciate ALL THE PRAYER you got. And if you know anyone who needs encouragement, and would benefit from hearing about God’s work in and through me, I would love to connect with them and share about what God’s doing! (Especially if they are in the NYC!)
For the last month, I have frequently been confronted with this thought: “what might it look like to have influence in New York City?” For example, imagine students within the Northeast traveling to the city of Harlem, growing closer to God, while also learning about the rich history of the Harlem Renaissance. This idea has been stirring me up; yet in this current season, due to the aforementioned, I have to wait for it. (but I trust that with some help and time, this dream can become reality!)
Nonetheless, even as I consider the unpredictability of when exactly my support goal will be reached, I’ve consequently been forced to consider how maybe God is calling me to “build tents” for this next season. In other words, like how the Apostle Paul in the book of Acts built tents for a season of his life (Acts 18:2-3), I’m pondering if I should equally find part-time work, and go “back to the lab” and support my psychology professor while working to establish my ministry base. So again, PRAY FOR ME I wrestle with all these logistics.
So much has been happening, yet I have faith that God is leading me to something “just right” that satisfies all my needs (I actually ended up writing about this in a blog post entitled “Porridge” earlier this month!) Nonetheless, as I continue to grow and adjust, I look forward to keeping you updated and I’m sure it will be a good report!
In conclusion, as I wrap this update up again I’m asking for your prayers and support, as I’m in a season of transition, and in a season of need. So much stuff is happening and the next time you get a newsletter update from me, I will be married! (And who knows maybe I’ll also be fully funded too.) Regardless, I am truly grateful for all of you, and none of this work would be possible if done alone. So, from the bottom of my heart I say THANK YOU!!! I am super excited to share the progress in a month, and I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you!
